Profenofos is a compound with molecular formula of C11H15BrClO3PS and molecular weight of 373.63. It is a light yellow transparent liquid. It is used to control various pests of cotton, vegetables, fruit trees and other crops, especially the resistant cotton bollworm.

Physical and chemical properties

Light yellow liquid, garlic flavor, boiling point 100 ℃/1.80Pa, vapor pressure 1.24 × 10-4Pa (25 ℃), density 1.455 (20 ℃), KowlogP=4.44, solubility water 28mg/L (25 ℃), miscible with most organic solvents, stable in neutral and slightly acidic conditions, unstable in alkaline environment.

Toxic:  

Profenofos is a moderately toxic insecticide. No chronic toxicity, carcinogenic, teratogenic and mutagenic effects, no skin irritation, and toxic to fish, birds and bees.

Usage method:

1.      Prevention and control of cotton bollworm: 60-100ml 44% emulsifiable concentrate per mu, 60-100kg water spray.

2.      Prevention and control of cotton aphid: 30-60ml 44% emulsifiable concentrate per mu, 30-60kg water spray.

3.      Prevention and control of pink bollworm: 60-100ml 44% emulsifiable concentrate and 60-100kg water spray per mu.

4.      Prevention and control of leek maggots: 300-500ml 50% emulsifiable concentrate per mu, 450-800kg water spray.

Main uses:

1.      Asymmetric organophosphorus insecticide. It has contact and stomach toxicity, no internal absorption, and a wide range of insecticidal spectrum, and can control harmful insects and mites in cotton and vegetable fields. The application dose is: 2.5~5.0g of active ingredients/100m2 for sucking pests and mites; 6.7~12g active ingredients/100m2 for chewing insects.

2.      It is used to control various pests of cotton, vegetables, fruit trees and other crops, especially the resistant cotton bollworm.

3.      It is a ternary asymmetric, non-invasive, broad-spectrum insecticide with contact and stomach toxicity, and can control pests and mites such as cotton, vegetables and fruit trees. The application dose is 16-32 g/mu for sucking insects and mites, and 30-80 g/mu for chewing insects. It has a special effect against cotton bollworm, and the dosage is 30-50 g/mu.

Precautions:

1.      It is forbidden to mix with alkaline pesticides.

2.      The mixture of profenofos and cypermethrin has obvious synergistic effect, and the commercial Duochongqing is an effective agent to control resistant cotton bollworm.

3.      The poisoned person shall be sent to the hospital for treatment, and the therapeutic agent is atropine or fostadine.

4.      Safety interval: 14 days. The safety interval of probromophos on cotton is 5-12 days. The maximum number of times of use per season: 3 times.

5.      Profenofos should not be used in orchards. High temperature will cause damage to peach trees and leaves.

6.     The drug will cause damage to alfalfa and sorghum.
